I would just like to take a moment to give you all an update on the events of this past year. With the release of Thom Chacon’s latest record, we have garnered a legion of new fans. We received incredible press everywhere that we were reviewed, and even landed a feature article in Nashville Arts, which is impressive as it is exclusively reserved for Nashville residents. Thom was also fortunate enough to tour on a number of dates opening up for Los Lonely Boys.
We had a wonderful response at radio and were in heavy rotation at a number of stations. Thom became a favorite of “The Colorado Sound”, and had the good fortune of meeting a number of supportive new friends, including John Platt of WFUV in New York, and Tom Kennedy of “The Valley’s Music Place” in Roanoke, VA. Thom was accepted to Pandora, and garnered some 3000 spins a week. He was also invited to play at The Living Room in NYC, and the performance aired on Sirius XM. Thom was honored to be selected for consideration in 3 Grammy categories, and won an award of merit from the Global Music Awards.
Jason Samel invited Thom to participate in an anti-fracking record, where he will appear alongside such artists as Pete Seger and Bonnie Raitt. As the year drew to a close, Thom made his first appearances in the UK and Europe, playing at the legendary Troubadour in London, as well as a special event at Abbey Road Studio 2, which Jimmy Page attended and commented that Thom was a wonderful artist. We also went to France, where Thom did an in-store performance at Fargo records, which was packed edge-to-edge with adoring fans, almost all of whom bought additional copies of his record for him to autograph.
Last but not least, on our return to London, Thom was fortunate enough to meet with Bob Harris, who not only was the presenter on The Old Gray Whistle Test, but is also a champion of Americana in the UK, and hosts a radio program on BBC2 radio. Bob and Thom hit it off instantly, and Bob has just recently played Thom’s music on his BBC program. Now we need to work hard to come up with a good touring strategy for 2014 and push the envelope even further. I want to sincerely thank everyone involved for all their hard work and effort, and I hope that we can continue to work together in the new year so that we can open even more doors for Thom Chacon and his music.
All the best and Happy Holidays!
